ANTONIO

KTM proud!

Antonio is the youngest in the group, and he’s gonna win your heart! Born on Kilimanjaro, he’s an adventurer true and true. He’s a soccer player, an avid cyclist, an F1 spectator and the biggest KTM fan. This guy dives into the fun no matter what. A natural statistician, he calculates his risk and takes it. He’s made the Linjørns proud; he has. Everything he does is honest fun. Next time, join him…but, careful, don’t mess with his hair!

FRANCISCO

JUST SEND IT!

With skills like his, who needs luck? A daredevil from the core, this guy sends it every time. On the soccer field, he defies gravity. On the dirt track, he’s dangerous. He’s ridden Honda, Husqvarna and KTM. John Linjørn said it himself, “He’s better than I was at his age.”

Ride to all corners of the earth

9.June. Day of departure

10. June. Arrived in Dar es Salaam.

11.June. WiFi set-up.

12.June. Spent time with cousins and grandparents. Then we cleared a path to make a practice road.

13.June. Motorbike maintenance with help from Hugo and lots of fundis. Plus, soccer training on Kilimanjaro.

14.June. Francisco and Antonio set up solar lights at TheWateringHole after a morning of soccer. Afternoon motorbike ride from TheWateringHole to Mailisita, TZ and back. Crossed the Weruweru River on a bridge built during the English colonial period.

15.June. Soccer drills and started taking a Land Rover apart, Series II.

16.June. More soccer and welding repairs to the chassis of the Series II.

17.June. Removed damaged body parts of the Series II and fabricated new body parts…and soccer, of course.

18-19. June. Rebuilt engine, transmission, and differentials of the Series II.

19.June. Motorbike trip to Kwasadala and first river crossing for Francisco and Antonio!

20.June. Spent the day with Mramba repairing and fabricating the upholstery for the Series II. Got several locals to play soccer with us!

21. June. Studying for SATs and soccer in the morning. Fundi work on the Series II in the afternoon.

22.June. More locals join our soccer training!

23. June. Fredi and Francisco have discussions about directions and driving speed. Too fast, Francisco?

24. June. Lunch in the bush by potje pots, one for chicken and one for beef.

25.June. Maasai villagers greeted us while we fixed a flat tire.

26. June. Motorbike ride to Lake Ambussel. This is a seasonal lake used by Maasai to graze their cattle during the month of May. Maasai migrate to that area when their is plenty of water and grass. It took us 8 hours of riding, one crash and one puncture to get there. Antonio was soon patched up, but the KTM 525 would have nothing more of the heat. Fredi and friends to the rescue!
